Installing VMware Tools in Windows 10 in VMware Workstation Pro 12.5

It is very important to install VMware Tools after installing the Windows 10 operating system on the virtual machine.

This provides you with the following benefits:

- Faster graphic performance
- Improved mouse performance
- Text copy and paste between host os and guest os
- Drag and drop
- Shared folders
- Automatic grabbing and releasing of mouse cursor
- And so on

In particular, drag and drop can copy files from the host to the guest operating system without using ftp, ssh, or shared folders. It is also possible backward.

■ Installing VMware Tools in Windows 10

Select Edit > Install VMware Tools to install VMware Tools in Windows 10 guest OS.

After a while, the VMware Tools box will appear at the bottom right of the console as shown below. Click on it.

Click 'Run setup64.exe' in the box at the top right of the console as shown below.

Select 'Yes' when the 'User Account Control' window appears as shown below.

Then the VMware Tools Setup wizard window will appear as shown below. Select the Next button to proceed to the next step. And select 'Typical' as the setup type and click the Next button.

When you are ready to install, click the Install button to proceed with the installation.

When the VMware Tools installation is complete, click Finish to exit the installation.

And rebooting is required to take effect. Press the Yes button to reboot Windows 10.

After rebooting, you will notice that the mouse cursor has become smoother. You can also check the resolution auto-fit by reducing the VMware Workstation window.
